Gun Control and the 2 Amendment

The day following the horrible massacre in Sandy Hook Elementry School many people are calling for gun control measures. I would like you to start a discussion about gun control in the comment area. I would like you to look up the statistics (accurate) regarding deaths by guns in other countries and state your opinion and stance on this current issue. Please respond to others comments on this site.

  1. I find the tragedy that occurred yesterday to be just awful. The fact that a person could go into an elementary school and murder innocent kids sickens me. I think the United States should have a better gun control policy because it really is a problem. The US has the greatest gun ownership rate in the world, roughly 88 people out of 100 own a gun. The US doesn't have the highest death rate because of guns, but it is one of the top countries. If the US was to control the use of guns more there would be a lot less deaths because of it. The fact that Adam Lanza was able to get a hold of four guns to use yesterday is unbelievable, there should've been more restrictions.

  2. The incident that occurred at sandy hook elementary was a tragic event that devastated the lives of many families of Newtown CT. The 26 deaths were all due to the fact that a young man got his hands on a gun, which resulted in the death of many innocent lives. Statistics state that out of every one hundred people, eighty eight people own a gun. The United States of America has the highest gun ownership in the world. The US needs to make several changes to protect the lives of innocent amercians when it comes to gun control. Sadly, some families of Newtown have to spend the christmas season have to burying their loved ones

  3. On that horrible massacre in Sandy Hook Elementary School many people want gun control measures. I was shocked to know how a man could kill 20 children for no reason. The gunman, who was Adam Lanza was 20 years old, had a history of mental illness. No one knows why he did it. In my opinion, only police should have guns, and if someone has mental illness, should even be near a gun. As a United States of America we need to make new laws, so people can be safe. If no one will fix this, we will be in war not only with other countries but within ourselves.

  4. I do believe that this was a Tragic event in History and feel terrible about all of those kids. Even though the statistics say that the US has highest gun ownership, but the award for greatest number of deaths by guns goes to Puerto Rico. We do need stricter gun laws in this country, because just about anyone can get one. Why should innocent people get hurt in the world? If it was up to me I would try to get rid of guns completely.

  5. Many people continue to say that he purchased the gun. The guns where registered in his mothers name and he took them, and used them. I think that guns should be completely outlawed in all 50 states. I think there would still be crime but not mass killings like these those would be avioded to many innicent people are dieing and it is becoming a pretty big issue in our socity.

  6. The United States needs to do something about gun control because this is getting out of hand. This was a tragedy Even though the it says that he did not purchase the guns it doesnt matter where he got them from they should not be sold to anyone. This country has enough power to inforce This and something needs to happen soon..

  7. I think in order to purchase a gun there should be extensive research into the person who wishes to own a gun. There should be restrictions of the types of guns available to the public. The US is the country with the most population owning a gun.

  8. The tragedy in connecticut Friday was devastating for may people to go through. The magnitude kids that lost their lives was horrible. I think that there should be more restrictions on owning a gun. It should not be so easy for a mentally disturbed person to get their hand on one. Obama plans on strengthening the laws on gun control. Eighty Eight out of every 100 people own a concealed weapon in the united states.

  9. The tragedy that took place that friday in Sandy Hook elementary school was a horrible massacre. Just hearing about it on the news sickened me. The main fact that bothered me was how can a man go into an elemenatry school and just murder innocent children. I think that is disgusting. The USA is known as one of the top countries with possiessions of guns. I think if the USA would control the use of guns, their will be less deaths. I think they should develop a way to perform a research, by researching the persons background before handing them a gun. I think this will help our country and keep USA more safer and there will be less deaths.

  10. The massacre in Connecticut on friday was devastating to see and hear about on the news. Theres no way to describe the pain that the families, teachers, and students must have felt during and after the shootings. I do not know what could drive somebody to kill twenty children in cold blood. It makes you realize the horrors of humanity, and the people who have to deal with this tragedy right before the holiday season. I was very displeased and angry with the news to immediately start bringing up gun laws and the second amendment right after the incident. Although the guns were "bought legally" which is a serious problem, this is not an event that calls for changing the rights of Americans. The second amendment is completely justified, necessary, and does not have to do with this case. The gun laws in the United States are horrible and not organized correctly as it is, and these killings happen way too often. But calling for stricter gun laws will unfortunately not stop these horrible things from happening to our neighbors.

  11. The Sandy Hook elementary school shooting was terrible and awful. This masscare opened up everyones eyes. This made many parents question that sending their school isnt safe. I feel so bad for everyone who lost someone durning that awful day. Its even worst right before the hoildays. When i heard about it i was very upset it touched me alot made me think about life and how there are crazy people out there . Even though this could've been avoided if schools had better security. This has nothing to do with Gun Control. A psyco will do whatever it takes no matter what it is to do and what needs to get done. Texas has barely any gun laws and everyone carries guns and its vote the safest state because of that its gun controlled places.

  12. The Sandy Hook elementary shooting was so sad and such a tragic event. After looking on facebook they showed the statistics of shootings around the world and united states was at the highest number of shootings in a year where in Germany it was only like 8 shootings. I feel that when people go to buy guns they should be checked to see if they are even stable to have a gun. Its not the gun itself but the person behind the gun.

  13. The Sandy Hook elementary school shooting opened up everyones eyes. Parents should feel safe sending their children to school and this has made many parents question that. Even though this situation could've been avoided if schools took more precaution with security, theres nothing we can do now. Gun Control wouldn't have prevented this situation. Whether or not there are gun control laws, criminals dont follow the law anyway, thats why they're criminals. I think all schools should have security.

this website shows all the states in Americans statistics on gun crimes.

But either way Connecticut has one of the strictest gun control laws in the country and yet the shooter just took it from his mom.

  14. The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was just such a devastating tragedy. I cannot believe everything that has happened in the past few months and now this happens. It is really just terrible. Our country, the United States, has the highest gun ownership in the world. Because our country has a great power over guns, I feel we should have more control over who owns them.

  16. There are going to be guns available for hunters and outdoors men but the fact is there must be more regulations and ammunition of that magnitude must be harder to attain

  17. United States is one of the countries with highest gun violence right next to Russia.I believe guns are for good purposes like hunting, protection and cops

  18. Gun control should have been established years ago. What else has to happen for the United States to realize that gun control will save lives? It is obviously Americans who are the ones who have a high murder rate. Deaths by firearms in America were nearly 30,000 in the year 2004 and has been increasing since. This recent massacre must open the eyes of our leaders and they must make the decision to establish gun control in all 50 states of America.

  19. Gun control is something that should be much more strict in the untied states. We are the only country to have thousands of people die every year due to guns. When our founding fathers gave us the right to bare arms they didn't know that this right would cause the death of many innocent children, not only now with sandy hook but back with columbine too, these were both wake up calls for the US to realize that civilians don't need the right to bare semiautomatic weapons, back in their day weapons were single fired and shot 3 shots per minute, today guns can unload a full clip in a matter of seconds, these guns are unnecessary in the hands of civilians and should only be used by the military.
